To be able to apply decentralization in the ShiftZone blockchain, it will be governed and guided by A DAO, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization. It is a type of organization that is run using smart contracts on a blockchain network. The ShiftZone DAO operates on a set of pre-programmed rules, rather than being controlled by a central authority or group of individuals. Though we have initially set up our own initial rules for the DAO, it can change these rules and laws to better suit the chain and its members through a voting process.

A DAO typically has a set of members, who are typically identified by their blockchain addresses, that can propose, vote on, and execute actions in the organization. These actions can include things like funding proposals for new projects, changing the organization's rules, or appointing new officers. In ShiftZone, members who hold a certain amount of Zonium become members of the DAO. Think of the members of the DAO as citizens of the organization and the chain.
