TURN-BASED COMBAT

When moving around, you will eventually encounter something or someone who would like to take you down. When that happens, the game switches from real-time to Turn-Based Combat.
At the beginning of each combat, each character in the map will roll their initiative. This is normally based on your Reaction Ability plus whatever it is that you rolled. The highest character will act first until the character uses up all their Action Unit (AU) attributes that round.
Each character has a certain amount of Action Units based on its stats and abilities. When the character has decided to end the turn or that person has no more AUs, you can end the turn.
Once done, the initiative will move to the next highest in the initiative ranking. The same process goes on until all characters have done their move.
The base number of action units a character has is determined by his secondary attribute called Action Pool. All actions have different costs. if you do not have enough Action Units to satisfy the requirements for the action, then you cannot do the action. Normally, when you are out of Action Units, you will end your turn. When it is your next turn, you will replenish your Action Pool.
Below are the actions you can do and how they use up points.
MOVEMENT - you spend 1 Action Unit (AU) per box that you move. for example, if you have 10 AU and you want to move, you can move up to 10 squares, leaving you with 0 AU after that movement. You can move less and you are left with whatever you did not use for movement.
ATTACK - There are many kinds of attacks. Each attack has different costs to perform. The type of attack normally determines the cost of the attack. Lighter weapons tend to use up less actions, allowing you to do more of them in a round. For example, using a punch will only use up 3 AU, while using a greatsword might cost 5 AU. Attack maneuvers from Abilities will also have additional AU costs. The combined cost of using the weapon and the maneuver will be the cost in terms of AU.
SPELL CASTING - When you cast a spell, it also requires the consumption of Action Units. The cost of casting spells depends on the spell itself. The more powerful the spell, the bigger the cost. There are some abilities that can reduce the cost of casting spells.
ABILITY USE - Active abilities also have a cost in terms of Action Units to use in combat. When not in combat, these actions don't have Action Unit costs but it combat, they do.
Most combat actions have an Energy Cost. These costs wil use up your ENERGY POOL.
